The Independent Budget Office

IBO is an independent New York City agency, providing non-partisan budgetary, economic, policy analysis for city residents and their elected officials. IBO seeks to increase New Yorkers’ understanding of and participation in the budget process. The agency does this by publishing reports and analyses, and by responding to requests from elected officials and their staffs, community boards, civic groups, the press, and the public. The IBO’s staff of about 30 professionals has diverse experience and training in public policy, public administration, economics, finance, business, and law.



The NYC Independent Budget Office is seeking:

Education Analyst. Strong quantitative and analytic skills essential, along with knowledge of the city’s public education system or governmental budgeting. Able to work cooperatively as part of a team, juggle multiple tasks, and meet deadlines. Two to five years experience in public policy, budget analysis, or related field. Graduate degree preferred; additional work experience may substitute. Good communication skills needed to interact with public officials and civic groups. Salary: $52k-$84k, depending upon experience.
